Product introduction

What you are actually buying

Hot dip galvanized steel pipe starts as ERW welded or seamless carbon steel tube. It is cleaned, then dipped in molten zinc, so a metallurgically bonded zinc coating forms on the surface — on hot dip material the bore is coated as well as the outside.

The zinc protects the steel as a barrier and by sacrificial action at cut ends, threads and scratches. That is why galvanized pipe is the default for scaffolding, fencing, greenhouse frames, conduit, and low-pressure water and gas lines: nobody paints it, and it still has to last a decade outdoors.

We supply round, square and rectangular pipe from 1/2" to 16", in GB/T 3091, BS 1387, ASTM A53, EN 39 and JIS G3444 grades, with plain, threaded or socketed ends, and zinc coatings from 120 to 500 g/m².

Decisions that change the price

Three things to fix before you request a quote

Zinc coating, 120–500 g/m²

Coating mass is the single most argued number in a galvanized pipe order. Light coating suits indoor frames and parts that will be painted; scaffolding, fencing, coastal and outdoor structures should sit at 300 g/m² and above. Put the figure in the contract and confirm it appears on the MTC.

Plain, threaded or socketed

Square cut with the burr removed as standard. Threaded and socketed pipe ships with plastic caps on both ends, so the thread arrives undamaged. Tell us the thread standard the project specifies and we confirm before quoting — a wrong thread is the most expensive mistake in this product.

Deep processing in house

Threading, sockets, end caps, cutting to length, painting, powder coating, oiling, punching and embossing. Lengths are cut to your list, so they arrive matched to the project instead of being re-cut on site and thrown away.

Process

From steel strip to capped pipe

01

Substrate

Hot rolled coil for ERW pipe, or billet for seamless, selected to the grade your standard calls for.

02

Forming and welding

Strip is formed into round, square or rectangular section and welded along the seam; seamless pipe is rolled from billet.

03

Cleaning

Oil, scale and weld flash are removed. Zinc will not bond to a dirty surface, so this step decides the coating quality.

04

Hot dip galvanizing

The pipe goes through molten zinc; coating mass is controlled and later checked against the figure on the order.

05

Threading and ends

Cut to length, threaded where required, socketed and capped so the thread survives the voyage.

06

Inspection and packing

Coating mass, OD, wall, length and thread are checked, the MTC is issued, then the pipe is bundled and strapped.

Questions buyers actually ask

Before you send the enquiry

01What is the minimum order quantity?

One 20GP container is the normal starting point, and different sizes can be combined in the same container. If you need a smaller quantity for a trial or a single project, tell us the size and quantity and we will confirm what we can do.

02Plain end or threaded — and which thread standard?

We supply plain end, blunt end, or screwed and socketed with plastic caps protecting the thread. Tell us the thread standard your project specifies and we confirm it in the quotation — the thread is the first thing that fails on site if it is cut to the wrong standard, so it is worth fixing before the order.

03Which zinc coating should I specify?

Our range is 120–500 g/m² (30–70 µm). Indoor frames and parts that will be painted usually need the lower end; scaffolding, fencing, coastal and outdoor structures should sit at 300 g/m² and above. The coating mass is what inspectors test first, so put the figure in the contract and confirm it appears on the MTC.

04Which standards and grades can you supply?

GB/T 3091 (Q195 / Q215 / Q235 / Q345), BS 1387, EN 39, ASTM A53 Gr. A / B / C, JIS G3444 STK400 / STK500, and S235JR / S275JR material. Seamless and welded, in round, square and rectangular section.

05Can you cut, thread, bevel or paint to my list?

Yes — threading, sockets, end caps, cutting to length, painting, powder coating, oiling, punching and embossing are done in house, so lengths arrive matched to your cut list instead of being re-cut on site.

06How many tonnes fit in one 20GP?

It depends almost entirely on the outside diameter. Small pipe fills the container by volume long before it reaches the weight limit; large-diameter heavy-wall pipe can reach 22–25 MT. Send your size and we will calculate the loading and the number of containers for your quantity.

07Can I get a sample before ordering?

Tell us the size and coating you are considering and we will confirm what can be sent as a sample and at what cost. For threaded pipe, ask for a sample with the thread cut, since that is the part buyers most often need to check.

08What documents come with the shipment?

An MTC to EN 10204 3.1 with every shipment, plus commercial invoice, packing list, and CO / Form E for the destination country. SGS or BV third-party inspection can be arranged if your project requires it.
